The temperature reached 90 today and we finally pulled out the pool. The kids loved it and had way too much fun. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Oh, Keith's swim trunks were left at Grama's so, he just wore his lil' swimmer.

Our little graduate
Kaitlyn had her preschool graduation today. I know, I know it's a little silly, but Kaitlyn was psyched! They all looked so cute in their caps, which they made, and gowns.

| Both afternoon classes graduated together. Kaitlyn is in the bottom row, third from the right. |

Kaitlyn turned 5!!
My little Kaitlyn is now five and I can't believe it! We had a party on Tuesday, her birthday, with family. She wanted burgers and hotdogs and a mermaid cake. So that's what we had plus a couple salads and chips. She recieved lots of gifts and really likes them all. Thanks everyone for either coming, the gifts, or both.
Kaitlyn asked if she had to go to the 5 school (that's what she calls the school she'll be going to kindergarten) now that she's 5. I told her she will in the fall, but she still has a couple of days left of the 4 school.

Is it Spring already?
Well, I'm actually not sure if I should say already or yet. Our weather has been kinda hectic and erratic that it is hard to tell which season it is exactly. I could do with a little less wind though.
Easter was good, the weather was actually really nice that day. The kids died some Easter eggs a couple of days before and then the Easter bunny hid them Easter morning. They also got buckets of goodies from that wily bunny and a bunch of stuff at Grama's and more egg finding there.
Kaitlyn lost another tooth, finally. That thing was barely hanging on for a while and was cockeyed in her mouth for weeks before she finally pulled one morning. Literally one morning. She came into my room before I was even up and aware of where and who I was, telling me she lost her tooth. I was happy for her once I realized what was going on.
She also helped me make gnocchi yesterday for dinner and is really good at it, so if anyone needs help making gnocchi I will rent Kaitlyn out to you. She's almost five and can start earning her keep, right?
Keith is as busy as ever getting into trouble. I actually have to get up early in the morning to shower, hopefully, before he gets up. This kid has to be watched at all hours of the day. He threw away a whole bunch of asparagus, and just because Maggie and I are the only ones who will eat it (though Kaitlyn seems to be liking it now) doesn't mean Keith has the right to throw it all out. When I got to the scene of the crime there were green bits on the kitchen floor and in the dog's water and all the rest were in the trash. Keith must have been hungry, thought he try them even though he's had them before, spit it out and tossed the rest. Couldn't believe it, even though I know I should.
Another morning, I come downstairs and Keith is putting butter in Maggie's food bowl with my paring knife! How did he get the paring knife? He moved Duke's food container (we use a large plastic dog food container for the dog's food) over to the counter to climb on and grab the knife out of the wood block. He told me Maggie needed butter. WITH MY PARING KNIFE!?! Thankfully no one was hurt. That boy has taken years off my life.
Then he went and did something really cute a couple nights ago. I was getting him into bed and just as I was leaving he asked me if I give Daddy loves (hugs and kisses)? I told him I do. Then he asked if I give Daddy kisses? I said yes. Then he asked if I could give Daddy loves and kisses for him? It was adorable! Its those one little moments that makes all else forgiven.
We had a topper put on the truck. Jordan was a little worried about it, but with only the truck to haul everyone, dogs included, it was the only thing we could do. There isn't enough room in the cab for all six of us and certainly not enough in the car, but now with the topper the dogs can ride back there with a little room to stretch. It looks really good too and the color matches perfectly.
And when I'm not out in the garden, and it feels really good to get out and play in the dirt, I'm sucking crawfish heads with my in-laws. Not really though, but I was invited to go to the annual Crawfish Boil with my father in-law and sister in-laws. It was nice to get out and not have the kids, even for the little bit of meat and all the work that goes into eating the little mudbugs. Grama, bless her, took four of the grandkids for a couple hours and managed to survive. She doesn't care for crawfish all that much.
Otherwise, I'm trying to get the garden going between the warm, hot, and cold weather that we are having. Hope everyone is getting out to enjoy some weather too!

Blinded by Science!!
Kaitlyn had to miss school the other day because of a tummy bug that she caught from her brother. She was so upset at missing school, they were going to "make science", that she was really crying, which got me crying. So I told her we would do some science "experiments" at home and that made everything better. So, who do I call for science?....Nana! Nana saved the day with some quick little at home science experiments. Thanks Nana!!
Density Test: add equal parts of water, oil, and molasses to a tall glass or vase (you'll see the layers better in something tall and slender). Each liquid will seperate out per their density.
Picking up the ice cube without touching it: Ok, so the kids were able to get this one to work without the salt and mine, using salt, failed utterly. What you're supposed to do is put the ice cube on a plate of flat surface, rest a string on top (I would suggest maybe a piece of thread), sprinkle on a little salt and then you should be able to pick up the piece of ice by pulling on the string/thread. In theory, our experiment didn't work out that way, but the kids still had fun.

Rock Candy!: This will show you how crystals form. Ours didn't work the first time, we ended up with a mass of tiney sugar crystals in the bottom of the jar instantly. We're going to do it again.
I've read that the best ratio is 3:1
3 cups sugar
1 cup water
flavoring (optional)
food coloring (optional)
Add water to pot and bring to boil, slowly add sugar a little at a time letting the sugar dissolve completely between additions.
After all the sugar has been added, remove from heat and add flavoring and color if using. Cool for 10 min. then add to jars. You can use wooden dowels or skewers or string tied to pencils that can fit across top of jar. Do not let string or skewer rest on bottom of jar, because when crystals for they will stick to the bottom. Place jar in cool, dark location (pantry would work well) Crystals will form quickly, but could take a couple of weeks to reach the size you want.
Fun in cornstarch: This is more fun than you could shake a stick at, or at least the kids thought so. This was their favorite!
Mix one cup of cornstarch with 1/4 cup water, slowly adding a little water at a time. You want the consistency to be thick pancake batter, so you may not need all of the water.
Then get you hands in it! That's the part they loved. Play with it and see how it reacts. It's good, "clean" fun.

Guess who had a visit from the Tooth Fairy?
Kaitlyn!! Kaitlyn lost her first tooth yesterday. It had been loose for a while and hanging on by a thread for a couple of weeks. Yesterday she came upstairs where I was doing some laundry and said she had something to show me. She opened her hand and there was her tooth! I couldn't believe it! Then she told me she pulled it out herself, I was so proud of her. She even said there was a little blood, but wasn't freaked out at all. My little girl is getting so big! So, last night we put her tooth in her new tooth fairy shaped tooth pillow and this morning she had eight quarters in it. She was very excited!
It has been about two weeks since Sis left, but the kids still tell me they miss her. We miss you Aunt Sissy! They had a lot of fun with you! We didn't do much while she was here, but hang out. I think that's what the kids liked. Here are some pics of the kids while she was here.

Well there went Christmas!
Christmas came and went with a flash. I was so exhausted by the end of the day. The kids received more toys than they need, but they had fun.
We had Christmas Eve dinner at Jordan's parents. Stuffed myself more than I should have, but it was worth it. Christmas started out at our house, then headed over to Jordan's parents again. The kids opened up a multitude of gifts the highlights being: for Keith, his large Buzz and Woody toys; for Kaitlyn, her scooter, Lalaloopsy Doll (which really freak Momma out), and her Leapster; for Jordan, the tin signs from the kids and a couple of books (yes, he is actually reading them); for me, my Kindle FIRE, love it! Then after it was all said and done we came home and went into a Zombie like state. I was wiped out!
I should mention that Sis is up here visiting while she is waiting for a job and a house. She's been bumming around my house for the last almost couple of weeks and it's been fun! We haven't seen each other in a while and it's nice to be able to have a nice long visit. Anthony is also here and this is the first time I've met him. What a cutey!
The kids have been having tons of fun with them here as well. They love to play games with their Aunt Sissy and I love that they are distracted most of the time.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and many blessings in the New Year!
